Senior Development Officer

As a Senior Development Officer (SDO) of the Montana State University-Billings Foundation, Mr. Dominick Vergara (’11) is responsible for the leadership and management of a Major Donor Program. He is charged with managing relationships and securing support from donors who give current and/or deferred gifts.

Prior to his service with the Montana State University Billings-Foundation, Vergara spent over 7 years in K-12 education as an administrator and teacher. He most recently served as the athletic director for Laurel High School (2020-2021) and athletic & transportation director for Custer County District High School in Miles City (2017-2019). His career in K-12 administration started at Elder Grove Middle School as an assistant principal/activities director (2015-2017). Before his career in administration, and teaching, Vergara served as a Sr. Admissions Counselor at Rocky Mountain College (2011-2014).

Vergara holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Rocky Mountain College (’15) and another master’s degree in Sports Management from Montana State University-Billings (‘11). He did his undergraduate work at Black Hills State University (’08). Vergara was a 2017 Montana State University-Billings Outstanding Alumni Award winner for Exceptional Achievement.

He is married to Katy Vergara (’10) and has a 3-year-old daughter Emily.

Vergara is an avid Billings Mustang fan, and in his free time enjoys fly-fishing, grilling in the backyard, and traveling with family.
